Change the nature of things

The company AZUR, established under the name of “United oil and soap factories”, evolved during the years, following its development course in accordance with the evolution of the Romanian society.

In 1923 Eugen Farber founded United Lacquers and Paints Factory, moment marking the beginning of the paints production.

After 1989, the company had to find resources for the new path.
The privatization of the company, through purchasing the main stock, of about 88% by ICC Industries New York, represented finality with historical touch, as the new owner of the company was Dr. John Farber, son of Eugen Farber.

Today, the company is engaged on the path of change. Thus, the company’s policy is considering orientation towards consumer, diversification of solution offer in order to increase competitiveness on market.
We are changing because the market is changing, the competitive environment is changing, and consumer’s behavior is changing.

Starting from these premises, Azur is launching the CHANGE.

1844 – year the company was founded as manufacturer of candles and soap under the name: United Oil and Soap Factories SA.

1923 – Eugen Farber founded United Lacquers and Paints Factory, moment marking the beginning of the paints production.

1942 – start of synthetic resins production.

1948 – the factory was nationalized entering into the property of the state.

1952 – a new plant for varnishes manufacturing was developed and also first researches in this field are initiated due to the endowment of laboratories with new equipment.

1967 – the NITRO plant started to operate as consequence of the development of Romanian furniture industry.

1980 – the new production platform from Calea Buziasului was inaugurated, platform that provides larger production and storage capacities.

1998 –the company AZUR started the activity on a new market, SMC–PAFS (Sheet Molding Compounds); a new business unit has been developed, dedicated for export products only.

1999 – the company was privatized; ICC Industries New York, property of John Farber, son of Eugen Farber, purchased the main stock. The factory returned, this way, after 50 years into the property of the Farber family.

2000 – AFER Bucharest certified the quality management system in accordance with SR ISO 9001/1995.

2003 – The Romanian Society for Quality Insurance certified the quality management system in accordance with the standard SR EN ISO 9001/1995 and the environment management system in accordance with SR EN ISO 14001/1997.

2006 - The Romanian Society for Quality Insurance re-certified the quality management system in accordance with the standard SR EN ISO 9001/1995 and the environment management system in accordance with SR EN ISO 14001/2005.

2006 – AZUR launched on the market the concepts ROUA, EVRIKA, EDIL, the professional brand QTEK and the tinting system NATURA.
